Snøhetta's Times Square Transformation Officially Opens

Architecture firm Snøhetta has completed its redesign of New York's Times Square, almost doubling the pedestrian areas at the busiest place in the US.

Officially opening today, the project involved the urban reconfiguration and landscaping of 5.18 acres (2.1 hectares) at the "bowtie"-shaped intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

The summer solstice is upon us: June 20th and the 21st will be the longest days of 2017 for anyone living north of the equator. If pagan rituals are your thing, this is probably a big moment for you. If not, the solstice is still pretty neat.

Technically speaking, the summer solstice occurs when the sun is directly overhead the Tropic of Cancer, or 23.5° north latitude. In 2017, this will occur at exactly 12:24 am (Eastern) on the 21st. (But we can celebrate on either day.)

Below is a short scientific guide to the longest day of the year (though not, as we’ll see, the longest day in Earth’s history — that happened back in 1912).

Red Panda VS the Stone

This is a really cute Red Panda. Saw one once in Edmonton, but lost the photos to a stolen phone :(... He was so cute, just walked laps around his little yard then in the den and back out, over and over... my 11-yr old and I Laughed and Laughed....

This little guy looks identical! Watch what happens when he encounters the stone outside his den. Hilarious!! (Sorry about the audio-track, was filmed in Korea)
